James E. ``Buddy'' Jordan
Mr. James Edward ``Buddy'' Jordan, age 69 of Winnfield, Louisiana entered eternal rest on February 21, 2012.
Born September 23, 1942, he was preceded in death by his father Henry DeLoyce Jordan and his mother Ellen Maurine James Jordan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years Martha Smith Jordan, two sons Jay Jordan and wife Rhonda of Baton Rouge, La., and Scott Jordan and wife Shelley of Sikes, La.. He is also survived by grandchildren Jacob Jordan of Sikes, La., Garrett Jordan and Torrie Bordelon of Baton Rouge, La., one sister Sharon Bedgood and husband Jason of Winnfield, La., and one brother Steve Jordan and wife Pam of Monroe, La., Sister-in-laws, Olive Ann Willis, Sandra Williamson and Mary Smith as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mr. Jordan was a beloved and dear husband, dad, grandfather, and true friend. He was kind and respectful to all and touched many lives with his courteous and positive attitude toward life. His guitar playing and singing, which was a great enjoyment in his life, will be missed by his family and friends.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, La., Master Mason and member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&AM and the Dugdemona High Twelve in Winnfield.
He was retired from the Winn Parish Sheriff's Department where he served as a deputy for twelve years and as Sheriff for 16 years. Mr. Jordan also was retired from the Louisiana Army National Gaurd after 22 years of service.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Hospice Compassus team.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Allen, Kerry Allen, Stanley Williamson, Troy Hatten, Greg Davies, and Stanley Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Allen, Dorman Guilliams, Wayne Melton, Bobby Guin, James Barron, and Bill Files.
Funeral services for Mr. Jordan will be held at 2PM Friday, February 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Dr. Calvin Phelps and Reverend John Holland officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and also on Friday in the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
The family request that memorials be made to The Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or to the American Cancer Society.
