JAMES EDWARD McCARTY, Sr.

James Edward McCarty, Sr., 79 life long resident of Stringer, died at his home Thursday night following a long illness. He was a retired farmer, member of the Stringer Masonic Lodge and a deacon in the Stringer Baptist church. He was also a former trustee of the Stringer School.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Stringer Baptist church with the Revs. Artis Brewer and Mr. Kimmon officiating. Interment will be in the Providence cemetery near Stringer. The body will remain at the family residence until time for the services.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alice McCarty, of the home; six sons, J. O., Oren and Lambert McCarty of Stringer; L. R. McCarty, Laurel; Edward McCarty, Ocean Springs; and Luther McCarty, Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby and Pearlie Smith, both of Montrose; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Osbon, Hugh and Leo McCarty, Fred and Thomas Parker and Thomas Dent Smith.
