James Edward Robison
March 18, 1925 - April 12, 2011

JONESBORO, LA -- James E. (Buck) Robison died with his family by his side at the NW LA Veterans Home on April 12, 2011.Visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, April 14 and funeral services on Friday, April 15, at 10 am in the chapel of Edmonds Funeral Home, Jonesboro, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Charles Wesley and Rev. Malcolm Self.

Interment will be at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Buck was a part of The Great Generation and our very own personal war hero. In July 1944, he volunteered for the U.S. Army and was wounded while serving in the Philippines. Upon discharge, he received a Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. After the war, he returned to Jonesboro and worked as a carpenter/cabinet builder where he built many of the homes in the area. He was also known as the best white perch fisherman around -many people were the recipients of “a mess of fish from Mr. Buck”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Voree Branch; grandson, Greg Washam; parents, James Elmer and Carrie Smith Robison; brothers, Clovis and Garland; sisters, Claudie Menshew and Maurine Jiles. He is survived by daughters; Carolyn Washam and husband Dean, Sherry Moser, Kay Campbell and husband Lee, and Donna Futch and husband James all of Shreveport, LA. Grandchildren: Mike Washam, Pamela and Jeb Moser, Neal and Carrie Allison as well as five great grandchildren. Brother-In-Law, Waylon Branch and wife Eleanor of Shreveport, LA.

The family would like to express appreciation to Wing 400 of the War Veterans Home in Bossier City, Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport and First Baptist Church in Jonesboro for their care, concern and prayers for our daddy during these last days.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donation be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Midway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or NW War Veterans Home in Bossier City.
