Walker Jr., James Ernest
James Ernest Walker Jr. died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the age of 81. Born in Sterling, Ill., he was a resident of San Francisco in his youth. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of the Southwestern Institute of Art and a press photographer for The (Shreveport) Times. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker. For 57 years he was a resident of Baton Rouge and an employee of Capital City Press until 1962, when he was disabled in an auto accident. Recently he had resided in Covington.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 62 years, Golda Foster Walker; a son, James Curtis Walker; and daughter, Alicia Walker Breaux, son-in-law, Leonard Joseph Breaux Sr.; grandchildren, Dawn Walker Wright, Felicia Lynn Huson, Roland Ted Huson IV, James C. Walker Jr., Nicole Breaux Stein, Leonard Joseph Breaux Jr.; and nine great- grandchildren. He is survived as well by cousins Lois Overman, Santa Clara, Calif., and Josephine Cooper, Kimberly, Idaho; beloved sisters-in-law, Freddie Foster Kees, Brandon, Miss., and Jackie Robinson Foster, West Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in his honor at Bagnel & Son Funeral Home in Covington, on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m.
