Funeral services for James Gayle Sturgis, Sr. 39 of Ridgecrest, La. will be held at Young's Funeral Home Ferriday on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Paul Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Young's Funeral Home Ferriday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012.
James was born on November 25, 1972 in Natchez, Ms. and passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Roxie, Ms. He was a resident of Ferriday, and an Electrician for Natchez heating and cooling. James was a loving father and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his father, James Jamelle Sturgis; paternal grandfather, Homer Jamelle Sturgis; step-grandfather, Dr. Jessie M. Young; and his maternal grandparents, Dewey and Maudie Clark.
Survivors include one son, James Gayle Sturgis Jr.; two daughters, Stephanie Leanne Sturgis and Jonna Aline "Ali" Sturgis; his mother, Linda Young and husband, Howard; two sisters, Sandra Sprinkle and husband, Travis and Veronica Boren and husband, Jim; maternal grandmother, Annie Mae Sturgis; and his step-grandmother, Nancy Young.
The Pallbearers will be James Gayle ``Jay'' Sturgis, Jr., Doug Gillespie, Joshua Brewer, Aaron Sutton, James McPhate, and Trey Brasher.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Ola, Jim Boren, Matt Mulvihill, Howard Young, and Jim Thorpe
