James Gray Hortman

WRIGHTSVILLE -- Funeral services for James Gray ``Jimmy'' Hortman, age 71, will be held at 11A.M. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow in Westview Cemetery. Revs. Andy Perryman and Matt Chance will officiate.

Born in Taylor County, he was the son of the late Ernest D. and Jewel Cotney Hortman. He attended the Crawford County Schools and was a graduate of the Georgia-Alabama Business College. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by a brother, the late Ernest D. Hortman, Jr. and a sister, Becky Neiman. Mr. Hortman passed away late Monday night after an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Raines Hortman of Wrightsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ellen Hortman of Tennille; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Benny Scarborough of Wrightsville; and three grandchildren, Brittany Scarborough and Taylor Scarborough of Wrightsville and Rachel Hortman of Tennille; and a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Aubrey Wilder of Fort Valley.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
