James H. ``Red'' Poole

James Henry ``Red'' Poole, 83, of Jena, died at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2001, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena.

He was a retired gang pusher, a member of the Baptist faith, and veteran of World War II. He was born April 24, 1918, in LaSalle Parish to the union of Timothy Wade and Lorena Griffin Poole.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Temple Baptist Church in Jena with the Revs. Jimmy Keene and Ben Deville officiating.

Interment followed at Woodland Cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Whitehead Poole of Jena; three daughters, Mary Lou Peavy of Trout, Angela Deville of Nebo and Tina Cockerham of Patterson, N.C.; one son, James Wade Poole of Crossett, Ark.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Andrews, Carlos Crooks, Clifton Jackson, Cleveland Poole, Robert Terral, Johnnie Phillips, and Buddy Willis, with honorary pallbearers being the retirees of Hunt Petroleum Corporation.
