James Hiram Davis
James Hiram Davis, age 86 and a resident of Gulfport, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, in Biloxi.
Mr. Davis was a native of Newellton, LA, and a resident of the Coast since 1956. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, and retired after 30 years with Entex. He was a Catholic and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New Albany. Mr. Davis enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and airplanes.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ida Mae Griffith Davis; and a sister, Evelyn Colburn.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Davis, of Gulfport; a son, James “Don” Davis and his wife, Sibyl Marie, of Kirkland, WA; a daughter, Barbara Griffith, of Pass Christian; two brothers, Fred E. Davis, of Jackson; and Marvin Davis, of New Albany; five grandchildren, Tina Marie Oakes, Alexander Steven Griffith, Christopher James Griffith; Aria Alison Davis, and Ryan Alexander Davis; and one great-grandson, Brandon Scott Griffith.
Visitation will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach on Monday, July 25, 2005, from 1:00 p.m. until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
