JAMES LEE
1920 - 2014

James H. Lee Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, and brother James (Jim) H. Lee died on December 13, 2014.

Jim was born October 17, 1920 and raised in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, later graduating from Louisiana Tech. After earning his degree, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served proudly during World War II as a Lieutenant in the US Navy in the Pacific theater. At the conclusion of the war, he attended the University of Missouri where he earned a graduate degree in horticulture and met his future wife of 67 years, Ginni. Jim made his career as a national sales manager for the Ralston Purina Company. That career took him and Ginni to St. Louis, Missouri, Alexandria, Virginia, and then Frederick, Maryland where they raised their children and made many friends. While in Frederick, he served the community as president of the Rotary Club, as a member of the Board of Associates at Hood College, and the Economic Council of Frederick County. He was an avid gardner with a particular interest in rose culture. His love of roses and vegetable gardening made him a gentle and endlessly enthusiastic educator about the beauty and wonder of all growing things. He was the rose caretaker at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, made presentations to gardening groups, and provided roses for the wedding bouquets of his daughter and granddaughter. He was one of the founding members of the Men's Garden Club of Frederick. In addition, he and Ginni loved to travel, and were able to make many trips to explore Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Jim was the proud father of Sharon, Clark and Jimmy, grandfather of seven and great grandfather of four, all of whom survive him. He is also survived by his cherished wife, Ginni Lee of Frederick, a brother, Joe W. Lee of Kentucky, and a sister, Betty Turpin of Louisiana.

He will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in the Spring. Jim loved to read.
