J. I. WALKER

WAYNESBORO, Miss. -- Services for J. I. Walker, 72, well known farmer and cattle raiser, of Wayne County, who died at his home in Beat Four Community, Wednesday of a heart ailment, were held Friday afternoon at White House Church. The Rev. Mr. Swearinger officiated. Interment was in the White House Cemetery.

Mr. Walker was a life long resident of Wayne County, and had operated a farm for a number of years. He was an active member of the Liberty Baptist Church, of which he was a deacon, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He leaves his wife, Lula Vinson Walker; five sons: Bernice Walker, of Waynesboro; Luther and Willie Gray Walker, of Odessa, Texas; and Calvin Walker, of U.S. Army stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C.; four daughters, Mrs. Lula Mae Phillips, of Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. Vardaman Riley, and Mrs. Lillian Douglas, both of Odessa, Texas; and Mrs. Alma Welch of Mobile, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Bidmer Walker, of Wayne County; six [sic seven?] sisters: Mrs. John Bunch, of Wayne County; Mrs. Nola Chiles, of Jackson, Miss.; Mrs. W. R. Davis, of Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. W. F. Akins of Quitman, Miss.; Mrs. Margaret Tanner, of Meridian, Miss.; Mrs. L. A. Whitaker of Uvalde, Texas; and Mrs. Mattie Lucas, of Waynesboro.
