Editor Dies At DeRidder

DeRIDDER, Oct. 16 (Special) -- James J. Steidley, 41, managing editor of the DeRidder Enterprise, died today at a local hospital.

Mr. Steidley, a graduate of Texas A&M, was a lifelong resident of DeRidder and was former Finance Commissioner of the city. He had served as managing editor of the local newspaper for many years and was a member of the Lions Club here.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Thomas Wade II and the Rev. J. C. Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Survivors are his widow; one son, James J. Steidley II [sic III]; his mother, Mrs. H. M. Barrett of DeRidder; two sisters, Mrs. C. B. Waddle Jr., of Stamps, Ark., and Mrs. Francis A. Carrier of DeRidder.
