Mr. James J. Emmons, Jr.

QUEEN CITY, TEXAS - Mr. James J. Emmons, Jr. passed away September 15, 1991 at his home in Queen City, Texas after a lengthy illness.

His body will lie in state at the McGuire Funeral Home in Vivian, La. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18th. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 19th with Rev. J. W. Crow officiating. Burial will be at the Queen City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors after the funeral at his residence in Queen City.

Mr. Emmons was born May 15, 1920 in Vivian, La. He had been a resident of Queen City for 23 years. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in World War II in the South Pacific Islands. He was retired from Local 237 in Texarkana, he was a member of D.A.V. and V.F.W. Post 5870 in Queen City.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Grunden Emmons; his father, James J. Emmons, Sr.; and his wife, Hazel Turner Emmons.

He is survived by one brother, W. C. Emmons, Sr. and his wife, Mary of Vivian; two devoted beloveth sisters, Kathryn E. Norfleet of Shreveport, Virginia and Jim Mosley of Shreveport; two nephews, W. C. Emmons, Jr. of Pacific Grove, Calif., James W. Emmons of Bayfield, Colo.; three nieces, Carolyn and James Caskey of Shreveport, Pat and Jim Parker of Vivian, La., Debbie Boyd of Shreveport; six great-nieces, three great-nephews and a host of dear friends.

Pallbearers will be James W. Emmons, Bill Hannon, James McCormack, John McKeivy, Craig Fincher and T. Lummus.

Honorary pallbearers will be Foster Brent and Richard McKeivy.
