Rev. Jelie Wheelus Services Are Held

Rev. Jodie [sic Jelie] Jefferson Wheelus, 74, a retired Baptist minister, died at his home near here Monday afternoon.

Mr. Wheelus retired from active ministry about four years ago serving for more than a period of 20 years at pastorates in Oak Grove, New Zion, Lone Pine, Shady Grove, Fish Bayou and Greer.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. A. C. Trapp, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dana Terry of Winnsboro and the Rev. Tom Ratcliff, pastor of Boeuf Baptist church. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery, under the direction of the First National Funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Parnasie Wheelus, Winnsboro; two sons, Luther and Henry Wheelus, both of Winnsboro, one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Kincaid of Sikes, and nine grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Brother of Mrs. J. W. Hatten of Sikes Dies

The Rev. Jelie Jefferson Wheelus, retired Baptist minister, died at his home near Winnsboro, Monday, March 5, and was buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery Tuesday.

A native of Caldwell Parish, he moved to Winn at the age of 16 and lived here a number of years. Active in the ministry for 20 years, he served a number of churches in this parish.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Penasie McCarty Wheelus of Winnsboro; one daughter, and two sons, all of Winnsboro, and one sister, Mrs. J. W. Hatten of Sikes.
