James L. Hall

MARTHAVILLE -- Services for James L. Hall will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Marthaville Seventh Day Adventist Church with the Rev. Jack Fry officiating. Burial will be in Marthaville Cemetery with full military graveside rites by the Sabine Chapter #21 DAV under direction of Blanchard-St. Denis, Natchitoches.

Hall, 78, of Marthaville died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Natchitoches Parish Hospital.

He was a native of Friendship and a veteran of World War II serving in Headquarters Co. 787th Tank Battalion with the U.S. Army. He was a retired principal and raised painted horses. He was a charter member of Marthaville Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as head elder for over 30 years. He was president and member of Natchitoches Parish Fair Board for 20 years. He served on the Parks Recreation Committee and was responsible for obtaining a baseball field with lights and furnishing the community center with ceramic kilns.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Hall of Marthaville; two daughters, Tama Jo Bridges of West Boylston, Mass., and Jamy Lizabeth Grant of Shreveport; his mother, Parrie Lee Hall of Friendship; two brothers, Ellis Hayward Hall of Castor and Murray Lee Hall of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon Friday in the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until time of services in the church.
