JAMES LALEN DAVIS

James Lalen Davis, 82, 625 S. Magnolia, Laurel, died Monday afternoon in a Laurel nursing home following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Talladega County, Ala., but had lived in the Laurel area for 70 years. A retired Masonite employe, he was a member of the Masonite Old Timers, and a member of the North Laurel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with the Revs. Glenn Green, A. R. Reddin and Cliff Padgett, officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Viola Boyd Davis, two daughters, Mrs. J. L. (Vera) Williams, Laurel; and Mrs. F. W. (Clarine) Patrick, Durham, N.C.; three sons, X. L. Davis, Clewis Davis, both of Laurel; Allen Davis, Jackson; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
