James Lamar Lowrey
February 27, 1930 - February 27, 2013

Mr. James Lamar Lowrey, 83, passed away February 27, 2013.

Born February 27, 1930, he attended Jones Valley HS, where he excelled in football and baseball, and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a finance manager for GMAC and World Omni, and in retirement worked at Hoover Toyota. A 50 year member of Altadena Valley Country Club, he was proud of his 3 holes-in-one and shooting his age several times, but cherished most his many friends. During his 30 year membership, he held various positions in the B'ham Quarterback Club. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanene Glasgow Lowrey; his 4 children, Mike, Mitch, Jan Gutierrez (Javier) and Jon (Lynn); and his 3 grandchildren, Alex and Jon Gutierrez and Lilli Lowrey.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 3 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Older Adult Ministries, Cahaba Heights UMC.
