Staff Sergeant Among War Dead

S-Sgt. James L. Shaw, son of Mrs. Rhea Shaw, 4432 Southern, is presumed to have been killed in action on Nov. 11, 1944, according to word received from the War Department.

He was reported missing in action in the Mediterranean after a B-24 bombing mission from a base in Italy. A top turret gunner, he was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.

Sergeant Shaw was graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Northwestern University before entering the Army Air Forces on January 2, 1944. He went overseas in September of that year.

Survivors are his mother, two sisters, Mrs. H. Madeley, Seagoville, and Miss Martha Shaw, Fort Worth.
