James A. Mims

Mr. James A. Mims Sr., 81, of Greenwood, died Nov. 3, 2000 of heart failure at Veterans Hospital in Jackson. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Valley Hill United Methodist Church, served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Hamilton Mims. Funeral services were held Nov. 5 at Valley Hill United Methodist Church. Burial was at Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery near Greenwood with Rev. Frank Wheat officiating.

Mr. Mims is survived by one daughter, Betty Mims Lindsay of Kosciusko; one son, James A. Mims Jr. of Greenwood; one sister, Minnie Lee Corn of Elon College, NC; one brother, John W. Mims of Xenia, Ohio; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Ryan Lindsay, Dodd Lindsay, James A. Mims III, John S. Mims, Kenny Mims; great-grandson, James A. Mims IV; nephews, Charles E. Mims, Kenneth Mims. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons, Justin Mims, Jimmy C. Mims, Jonah A. Mims, Joseph A. Mims, Guyton Mims and his nephews.

Wilson & Knight Funeral Home of Greenwood was in charge of the arrangements.
