J. M. Johnson Services Held

James Madison Johnson, 72, of Brazoria, died Friday in a local hospital after being admitted to the hospital on Thursday.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Freeport Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. W. W. Blakely, pastor of the Jones Creek Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial was in Restwood Memorial Park.

He is survived by his widow, Belle; daughters, Mrs. Helen Sheldon and Mrs. Hallie Cramer, both of Houston; sons, Fred and Skeet Monroe Johnson, both of Houston; six stepchildren, George Kellog[g] Sr. of Liberty, Bertha Schmiegel of Galveston, George [sic Georgia] Picard of Brazoria, Helen Flowers of Saratoga, Doris Montgomery of Lake Jackson, and Virginia Purswell of Channelview.

Also, 19 grandchildren, 23 stepgrandchildren, and one great grandchild.
