The community was saddened Monday, August 21, when James Milton McCarty of Archer City died at his home as a result of double pneumonia and blood poisoning.
Milton was born November 15, 1913, in Archer county. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McCarty, well-known and highly esteemed residents of this vicinity. He was [a] very industrious young man and worked in the oil fields. On July 21, 1933, he married Miss Mildred Porter of Megargel.
He is survived by his young wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McCarty, and one brother, J. V. McCarty.
The funeral services were conduc[t]ed at the Megargel Methodist Chu[r]ch Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Truman Brown, Baptist pastor, and Rev. J. J. Cooper, Methodist pastor. A large concourse of relatives and friends were in attendance. Interment was in the new cemetery at Megargel.
Pallbearers were: Bennie Fichte, Burleson Arnold, William Lane, H. E. Jenkins, Charley Colgan, and J. T. Slaughter.
