James `Jimmy' N. Scoggin
James ``Jimmy'' N. Scoggin, 74, of San Marcos, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 14. He was born in Rock Springs on Nov. 12, 1929, to Jesse Edwin and Martha Jewel (Hallmark) Scoggin.
During the Korean Conflict, Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He owned and operated the Parlor Barber Shop in San Marcos. For 25 years he cut hair at the San Marcos Baptist Academy and was fondly known by the boys there as ``Butch.'' After another 38 years service, he finally concluded his career at Lamar's Barber Shop.
During his younger days, Jimmy enjoyed hunting, especially with his daughter, Sheryl, and fishing, especially with his son, Mike; and in later years he enjoyed sketching.
His parents; a sister, Jessie Baker and a brother, Charles Scoggin preceded him in death.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Lanell Grisham Scoggin of San Marcos; a son, Mike Scoggin and wife, Melinda of Reedville; daughter, Sheryl Scoggin and partner, Jose Lucio of San Marcos; sister, Doris Wedding and husband, Bryan of San Antonio; two granddaughters, Amber Scoggin of Martindale and Cassie Polasek of San Marcos; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Monday, Feb. 16 at Pennington Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted this morning at Pennington Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ron Hicks officiating. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
