Funeral services for Rev. James O. Shirley, 97, of Winnsboro, LA will be held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Nash, Rev. Norris Poole, and Rev. Tommy Cotten, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Coax Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home Winnsboro.

Rev. Shirley was born August 01,1908 in Winnfield, LA and passed away Friday September 16, 2005 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro. He was a resident of Winnsboro, a Farmer, a Pentecostal minister, and a member of the Wayside Pentecostal Church. Rev. Shirley started Chase Pentecostal Church and served as Pastor for several years.

He was preceded in death by two sons; Alton Shirley and Otis Shirley, four brothers; Elbert Shirley, C.W. Weems, Albert Weems, Lloyd Weems, two sisters; Eula Baum and Eunice Linder.

He was survived by his wife of seventy-four years Myrtle Shirley of Winnsboro, LA; daughter Modene (Shirley) Givens and husband Donell of Winnsboro, LA; two sons Ray Shirley and wife Joyce of Winnsboro, LA and Hollis Shirley and wife Joyce also of Winnsboro, LA; three brothers Grady Shirley of Winnsboro, LA; Luther Weems of Delhi, LA; Clinton Weems of Delhi, LA; three sisters Vaudie Upton also of Delhi, LA; Audie Mercer of Mangham, LA and Myrtle McVay of Bastrop, LA. He was also survived by nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sam Shirley, Clint Shirley, Mitchel Shirley, Rusty McKenzie, Daniel Ready, and Ken Free.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Jessie Booth, Rev. Ray McMurray, and Billy Ray Clark.
