FISHER, JAMES OWEN SR.

Services in First Baptist Church with burial in Perkins Cemetery.

Fisher, 52, of DeQuincy, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in Lake Charles. He was a native of Port Arthur, Texas, but lived in DeQuincy all of his life. He was an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad Co., a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers #755, and he has served as past president of the Union. He graduated from DeQuincy High School and earned All State Football honors. He attended McNeese State University where he was a member of the Cowboys football team. He was a deacon with the First Baptist Church in DeQuincy, and he also taught Sunday school. He served as coach for various youth athletic teams, including soccer, basketball and baseball.

Survivors: wife Gayle Jones Fisher of DeQuincy; sons, James Owen Fisher Jr. of Westlake, and Richard Paul Fisher and Nolan Micheal Fisher, both of DeQuincy; daughter, Shannon Ann Haggard of Moss Bluff; parents, Paul and Billie Fisher, both of DeQuincy; brother, Wesley Paul Fisher Jr. of New Albany, Miss.; sister, Frances Fisher Bolick of Sugarland, Texas; 2 grandchildren.
