Dr. James Paul Peters, Jr., M.D.
(August 23, 1932 [sic 1928] - April 29, 2013)

Dr. James Paul Peters, Jr., M.D., age 84 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at his residence.

Born Thursday, August 23, 1928 in Ruston, Louisiana, Dr. Peters attended grade school in Dodson and graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1945 where he was Vice President of the student body and attended Boys State in the summer of 1944. He was a graduate of Northwestern State University and LSU Medical School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Rotary Club International where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Council of Conservative Citizens, Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&AM, York Rite Bodies of Winnfield, Shriners, life member of the Ozark Society, AARP local chapter where he served as president for several years, Morgan County, Alabama Medical Society chapter president and Boy Scouts of America.

In addition, Dr. Peters was a flight surgeon captain in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and previously served as Winn Parish Coroner.

Dr. Peters was preceded in death by his Parents, James Paul Peters, Sr. and Iver Walker Peters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife of 56 years, Ina Walker Peters; Son, Paul Peters, III; Daughter, Susan Peters Brewton all of Winnfield, LA; Grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Brewton, Catherine Parker Brewton, Morgan Claire Brewton and Randall Parker Brewton, II.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 01 at First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM and again from 1:00 PM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 01, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Winnfield with Rev. Jimmy Walker officiating.
