James Rashal
Funeral services for James Rashal, 52, of Winnsboro were held Sunday at Gill First National Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Blackmon and Larry Foster officiating.
Burial followed in Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Rashal was born to the union of Leo and Audie McCarty Rashal on Sept. 8, 1952 in Winnsboro, and died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gilbert. At the time of his death he was employed with Franklin Plantation in Tensas Parish. He was a volunteer fireman and helped organized Highway 4 Fire Station, where he previously served as fire chief. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours of hunting and fishing in Tensas Parish.
Survivors include his fiance; Alisa Calk Parks and her son, Ryan of Winnsboro; his aunt, Evelyn R. Vick of Gilbert; several cousins and other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Larry Armstrong, James ``Bull'' Danley, Benjamin Lord, Benito Sanchez, Jim Ed Smith, and Malcolm Ward.
Honorary pallbearers were Parnell Barfield, Bennie Burnside, Jimmy Davis Jr., and Carl Tatum.
