James R. Machen
James R. Machen, age 65, of Winnfield, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at his residence in Winnfield.
Mr. Machen was employed by First Federal Savings and Loan of Winnfield for 28 years and was a real estate broker in Winnfield for the past 12 years. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Winnfield Rotary Club and the Louisiana Board of Realtors. Mr. Machen served on the Winn Parish School Board for 14 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He was the son of the late Hershel Mack Machen, Sr. and the late Mildred Caskey Machen.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Machen; three sons, Michael J. Machen and his wife Jennifer of Baton Rouge, Mark S. Machen and his wife Margie of Natchitoches and Matt K, Machen and his wife Michelle of Ruston; three sisters, Mable Ellis of Shreveport, Maudine Waldon of Monroe and Bobby Machen Weeks of Shreveport; one brother, Hershel M. Machen, Jr. of Winnfield; seven grandchildren, Meredith Machen, Paige Machen, Kendall Machen, Tyler Machen, Megan Toms-Herring and Sarah Toms.
Mr. Machen was preceded in death by his sister, Eve Pope and his brothers, D.C. Machen, Sr., Bill Machen and Donald Machen.
Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes, Inc., 202 E. Lafayette St., Winnfield, LA, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003.
Funeral services will be in the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003 with Rev. Lindsay Burns officiating. Interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Winnfield.
