J. R. Murphy

J.R. Jack Murphy, 89, a retired coppersmith for T&P Railroad, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Church of God.

Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

J.R. Jack Murphy was born June 26, 1916, in Wichita Falls. He was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Navy. J.R. married Grace Brady on June 1, 1942, in Weatherford. He loved yard work, fishing, sports and his church. J.R. was a coppersmith for the T&P Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of Riverside Church Of God, where he was a deacon and the head usher. J.R. was loved by all and will be missed by all.

Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Grace Murphy of Fort Worth; nephews, David Upton and wife, Debra, of Fort Worth and Richard Upton and Sandy of Houston; niece, Rebecca Buckner and husband, Dennis, of Fort Worth; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
