Maxwell Rites Held Today At Hickory Grove

Funeral services for James Rufus Maxwell, 66, retired United Gas worker and brother of W. H. Maxwell of Monroe, were scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hickory Grove Church with the Rev. Clyde Jones officiating.

Burial, under the direction of Blackwell and Golden Funeral of Bastrop, was to follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Maxwell died Sunday morning at his residence in Bastrop.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Velma Maxwell, Bastrop; one daughter, Mrs. L. J. Martinez, New Orleans, and two brothers, in addition to the one in Monroe, J. W. Maxwell of Shreveport, and G. B. Maxwell of Clayton.

Pallbearers were to be Johnny Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, Bobby Jones, Tommy Jones, George Taylor, George Maxwell, Jr., and Morris Sommers.
