James R. (Jim) Vandament

Final rites were held for James R. (Jim) Vandament, 36, of Tuttle, Tuesday at the Christian Church with Rev Gilbert Forest of the Kiamitchi Mission officiating, assisted by Carl Polsley. Mrs Frank Bennett, Mrs Leon Mathis, & Mrs Charles Coats, accompanied by Mrs D.L. Cobble on the organ, provided the music. Pallbearers were Troy Streber, Ron Wilson, Ray Turner, Bill Turner, Verle Barnes, Otis Jackson, Ed Roberts, & Buddy McCrea.

Jim was born 3/27/1935 in Oklahoma City. He lived most of his life in the Minco and Tuttle areas. He and his family had only recently returned to Tuttle after making their home in San Marcos, TX the past 2 1/2 years. Jim graduated from the Minco high school in 1953 and went on to continue his education at the Oklahoma City University and Oklahoma State University. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Wehling of Minco in 1954. Three sons were born to this union and one son, Timmy, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Christian church. He passed away Sunday in St Anthony hospital in Oklahoma City of a heart attack. He wore a heart pace-maker for the past 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home in Tuttle, 2 sons, Dick & Clay of the home, his father, W.A. Vandament of Tuttle, and grandmother, Mrs Fannie Thomas of Tuttle. His mother preceded him in death on 11/17/1971. He was a cattle buyer and rancher and has a feed lot near San Marcos.

Interment was in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of the Sevier funeral home of Tuttle.
