COLUMBIA (Special) -- J. W. Cook, 75, died early Sunday afternoon in a local hospital after a brief illness. He had been a farmer all his life.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday from the Old Hebron Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Cook, Columbia; five daughters, Mrs. Gladis [sic Gladys] Gryder, Mrs. Iris Gryder, both of Columbia; Mrs. Salome Kelly, Monroe; Mrs. Francis Anderson, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Mrs. Bernice Hayden, Columbia; two sons, William I. Cook, Grayson, Walter Lee Cook, Olla; five brothers, William C. Cook, Morton, Miss.; J. T. Cook, Oak Grove; C. C. Cook, Bastrop; Homer Cook, Ardewall, Ark. and Jack Cook of Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Beckman, Arkansas; Mrs. Katie Merrith, Helena, Ark.; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
