James Walter Johns
Services for James Walter Johns were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of
Southern Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Tarver officiating. Burial was in
New Hope Cemetery, Gaars Mill.
Johns, 77, of Winnfield, died at 11 a.m. Saturday in Humana Hospital, Winn
Parish.
He was a carpenter and a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by a son, William Ivy Johns.
Survivors include his wife, Maude Johns of Winnfield; four sons, Billy Johns
of Jonesboro, Sammy Johns of Bossier City, and J. J. Johns and Kindell Johns
of Winnfield; three daughters, Beth Wright of Hodge, Mary Fain of Shreveport,
and Kathy McDonnell of Bossier City; two brothers, Wesley Johns of Jonesboro
and Wyatt Johns of Dodson; two sisters, Pearlie Walker of Winnfield and
Barbara Carpenter of Dodson; 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
