James Johnston Services Today

Funeral services for James W. Johnston, 38, of 203 Carolina St., Monroe, were at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro with the Rev. James Thorn officiating.

Burial was in the Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert.

Mr. Johnston was found dead Thursday morning on Smith St., West Monroe, in the cab of a pickup truck where he apparently died a couple of days ago of a heart attack, according to Ouachita Parish Sheriff Department officials.

A missing person report was filed by a relative with the Monroe police around 9 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Sheriff officials said an autopsy report revealed Johnston had died of a heart attack.

A native of Winnsboro, Mr. Johnston was an oil field construction worker.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Georgia Lee Williamson Johnston of Clayton; one daughter, Mrs. Rosa Lee Egloff of Vidalia; his mother, Mrs. Arah Johnston of Winnsboro; four brothers, Albert Johnston, Buddy Johnston and Harvey Johnston, all of Monroe, and Charles Ray Johnston of Winnsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Margie Faye Wilson of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Charlene Benoit and Mrs. Loraine Giaise [sic Guice], both of Westwego.
