*In the 1910 census, James William MATHIS was listed as a widower with no children. His WWI draft registration (12 SEP 1918) noted his nearest relative as Mildred Bertha Mathis (presumed to have been his wife). In the 1920 census, he was listed again as a widower, but with a daughter, Mildred (age 5).
