James Parnell

WARREN -- James William Parnell, 76, of Warren, died Monday at his home.

He was born April 25, 1928, at Gravelridge, a son of the late Carl Edward Parnell and Florance Gorman Parnell.

He received his education in the Bradley County public school system and Arkansas A&M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello).

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a retired chemist for Dow Chemical Co.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by one stepson, Donnie Jackson.

Survivors include one son, Mike Parnell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one daughter, Kathryn Sauvageau of Denison, Texas; one brother, Cecil Parnell of Houston; two sisters, Dorothy Taylor of Warren and Cindy Booker of Monticello; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Frazer's Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Gravelridge Cemetery near Hermitage.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
