*Some researchers believe Nathan and Jane married about 1866. However, the 1900 census record indicates that they had been married for 28 years; the 1910 record, for 39 years--implying they married in 1871 or 1872. In 1870, Jane was living with her parents, apparently single. Thus, it seems likely their children Mary and George were born out of wedlock.
