Mrs. Janell (Wallace) Cooley
DeQuincy -- Janell Cooley, 87, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at a local hospital.
Mrs.Cooley was born on December 6, 1924 and a lifelong resident of DeQuincy. She was married August 7, 1942 to John Marvin Cooley. She was Pentecostal and member of Harvest Time in Carlyss. She attended the First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy for 70 years. Mrs. Cooley retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lora Wallace; brothers, H.D. Wallace and Jimmy Wallace; sisters Donnie Fields and Betty Robertson; son in law Gleason Vurduzca.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, John Marvin Cooley; son Wayne Cooley and wife Jeanette of DeQuincy; daughters, Lora Annette Goodman and husband Gary of DeQuincy and Joyce Lynn Vurduzca of Murrietta, Ca.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Hixson Snider Funeral Home Chapel and continue on Wednesday at 10a.m. until service time.
Funeral services will [be] on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home Chapel. The Rev. Chris Guidroz will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Snider Funeral Home.
