Janet Dukes Rogers
(February 12, 1938 - March 14, 2014)

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Collins City Cemetery for Janet Dukes Rogers, 76, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and formerly of Collins who passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Heritage Health Care and Rehab in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Dr. Ronnie Bishop will officiate at the services with interment to follow at the Collins City Cemetery. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Collins is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Rogers was born on February 12, 1938 in White Oak, Mississippi. She attended grammar and high school in White Oak, and then attended college at Jones County Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She also received her Master's Degree from Mississippi State University. Mrs. Rogers was a classroom teacher for twenty years and a elementary principal for ten years until her retirement. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie W. and Merble Arender Dukes; and one sister, Ruby Joyce Dukes Fortenberry.

Survivors include her husband of fifty four years, Jimmy D. Rogers of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two daughters, Donna Rogers Upton and her husband, Mike of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Denise Rogers Williams, and her husband, mark of Bristol, Rhode Island; two sisters, Jane Dukes Irwin of Gulfport and Eleanor Ruth Dukes MacArthur of New Albany; four grandchildren, Alana Williams Donald, Addison Upton, Brian (BJ) Price, and Amelia Upton.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins. Family and friends may sign an online guest book at www.billymkingcolonialchapel.com.
