Janice Aline Emmons Poulos
Janice Aline Emmons Poulos, 82 went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 16, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Funeral services celebrating her life and devotion to Jesus Christ will be held at 1:00PM on February 19, 2018 at Crowville First Baptist Church, 160 Louisiana State Highway 578 in Crowville, Louisiana. Interment will follow in the New Winnsboro Cemetery in Winnsboro, Louisiana under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Winnsboro. Reverend Terry Ganey and Reverend Marion Collier will officiate the service.
The family will greet friends from 10:00AM to 1:00PM on February 19, 2018 at Crowville First Baptist Church.
Janice was born on November 19, 1935 in West Monroe, Louisiana and the daughter of Willie and Melba Emmons. She was united in marriage to Frank Nicolas Poulos on February 19, 1966 in Monroe, Louisiana. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1988. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dewanna Emmons Book.
Janice accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1950 at Ridge Avenue Baptist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana during Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the first graduating class of West Monroe High School and worked as a telephone operator until her marriage.
Janice and her husband owned and operated Pack-a-Sack Grocery and Crowville Mercantile in Crowville. The couple took great pride in raising their sons in the Crowville community.
She was a member of Crowville First Baptist Church for more than fifty years where she sang in the choir, served in various leadership positions and taught Sunday School.
Janice passed peacefully from this life on Friday morning surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last years of her life.
Janice is survived by two sons: Nicolas Frank Poulos and Edward Frank Poulos, and a daughter-in-law, Amy Poulos. Her grandchildren are Isaac Payne Poulos and Molly Katherine Poulos, all of Crowville, Louisiana.
Serving to honor her memory as pallbearers are Aaron McDaniel, Zack McDaniel, Sam McDaniel, Andrew Anderson, James Anderson, and Curt LaFrance. Honorary pallbearers are the members of her Gleaners Sunday School Class.
The family is especially grateful for their mom’s caregivers, physicians and the staff of Dr. Jeffery Combetta of Winnsboro, Dr. Barry Weinberger of Monroe, and Dr. Robert Benjamin of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
