Janice “Jan” Darlene Kromm
Janice Darlene “Jan” Kromm, age 59, of Jackson, CA, passed away Sunday. February 24, 2013 in Sacramento. Jan was born in San Francisco, CA on June 23, 1953, a daughter of the late Phyliss Lorraine (Hartman) and Elvis Hobson Brown.
Jan was raised in Daly City, graduating from Westmore High School in 1971. Jan has always been an avid bowler and it was her bowling skills and her beauty that caught the eye of another avid bowler, Rick Kromm. The two were married on September 21, 1973 in San Francisco. Jan worked as a bookkeeper for Operating Engineers Union local #3 for 20 years before retiring.
Rick and Jan moved to Jackson in 1995 and Jan began her own business, Jan’s Taxes and Bookkeeping. Jan was very active in the community she was the secretary of “Midweek Strokers”, past president of the local bowling association Sierra Gold and director of Sierra Gold USBC since 2005. She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Pacifica. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and American Legion ladies Auxilliary Post 108.
Jan was a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants and treasured her Willie McCovey jersey. She enjoyed camping especially McArthur-Burney Falls State Park and loved cruising, she had been on a total of 16 cruises. By far her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Nana.
Jan is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Rick Kromm of Jackson; daughter, Jennifer Kromm, of Jackson; sister, Kathleen, and her husband, Dutch Monroe, of Valley Springs; grandchildren, Andrew Dean Thomas, MacKenzie Rae Thomas, Emily Ruth Thomas; niece, Melissa Rooks; great niece, Heather Rooks and great nephew Kyle Rooks. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy Michelle Kromm.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and a funeral service on Friday, March 1, 2013, 1:00 PM all at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. Interment will be at Cypress Memorial Lawn Park in Colma, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to STARS P.O. Box 208 Jackson, CA 95642.
