Janice Higdon, 5, Killed by Truck at Georgetown, La.
GEORGETOWN, La., March 21. -- (Special) -- Little Janice Higdon, the 5-year-old daughter of T. M. Higdon, of Georgetown, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon when she was struck down and run over by a truck while attempting to cross a street here. The truck was reported to have been driven by Gerald Glidewell, of Georgetown.
The accident occurred in front of the place of business conducted by the child's father. Her head was crushed and she was killed instantly. The accident was said to be unavoidable. Young Glidewell if frantic with grief over the occurrence. The accident was witnessed by the older sister of the child, Vera Mae Higdon, and two other girls, Jewel and Dora Wroten.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 5 o'clock, and interment will be made in a cemetery near Dry Prong, La.
