Janis Curlin Richardson
April 05, 1928 - July 25, 2016

Janis Curlin Richardson, 88 , went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2016. She was born April 5, 1928 and lived in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was also a residence of New Orleans, Louisiana and Lafayette, Louisiana. Janis attended Fair Park High School and Centenary College.

She met and married the love of her life, James C. Richardson, and together they enjoyed 68 years of marital bliss. It was at that point, Janis committed to her family and continued her efforts for the Lord. Janis became a full time Homemaker, was a member of Pinecroft Baptist Church; involved in the Women's Missionary Union, even served as Director; taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Choir.

Throughout the marriage, James and Janis loved to travel together and visited Hawaii, Alaska, American Samoa, and Scotland.

Janis is preceded in death by her parents William and Florence Curlin and sister Elsie Lou Curlin.

Janis is survived by: her husband James; cousin Johna Lamb; children: Carol Kelley and husband Mike, Laura Upshaw and husband Philip, and Brian Richardson; grandchildren: Heather Emmons, James Kelley and wife Jennifer, Janis Rosenquist and husband Cole, Melissa Shurling and husband Travis, Deanna Kitchens, Christopher Richardson, Suzanne Richardson, and even 10 adoring great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held 5 - 7 PM, Thursday, July 28, at Forest Park Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 11 AM, Friday, July 29, 2016, at Pinecroft Baptist Church, 8002 Jewella Avenue, in Shreveport, with Reverend Cecil Marr officiating. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Pinecroft Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Glen Retirement System for the exceptional care and support they provided Janis.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Pinecroft Baptist Church attention Southern Baptist Association, foreign, state, or national missions.
