Jean Price Poché
January 27, 1933 - January 14, 2014

Jean Dosher Price Poché, 80, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, in a local care center.

Born to John Heard Dosher and Annie Mae Stewart Dosher, Mrs. Poché was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a 1951 graduate of Lake Charles High School and attended McNeese State University, where she was on the Homecoming Court. Following college, Mrs. Poché worked as a stewardess for American Airlines, and later as a freelance court reporter in Calcasieu Parish for many years. She enjoyed playing tennis, was an avid Bridge player, and a member of the Pioneer Club. Her love for reading inspired her opening a book store, “Second Hand Prose,” which she joyfully operated in Lake Charles for several years. Mrs. Poché was a faithful member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of seventeen years, John A. Poché, Jr.; two sons, Paul Price and wife Melissa of California and Mark Price and wife Karen of Aspen, Colorado; one daughter, Kimberly Price of New Orleans; and one grandson, Nicholas “Nico” Price.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kirk Price; and two sisters, Donna Dosher Hebert, and her twin sister, Joan Dosher Dimmick.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Peter Cook will officiate. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Mark Poché, Brian Poché, James Poché, Bruce White, Nathan Spence and Mitchell Wood.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their beloved Jean to the staff of Resthaven Rehabilitation Center, Brighton Bridge Hospice, and to Father Peter Cook for his many visits, prayers and support.
