Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today in the First Methodist Church in West Monroe for Jeff W. Caldwell, 68, retired West Monroe chief of police and civic leader. The Revs. Kenneth McDowell and J. C. Wallace officiated.
Burial, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, was in the Hasley cemetery in West Monroe.
Mr. Caldwell died Monday in the Glenwood Hospital, West Monroe, after suffering two heart attacks during the past week.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Daisy Erskine Caldwell of West Monroe; three sons, Jeff W. Caldwell Jr., West Monroe, and James G. and Donald B. Caldwell, both of Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Ella G. Joyner and Mrs. Alice Wallace, both of Monroe, and Mrs. Lennie Walters, West Monroe; three half-sisters, Mrs. Myrthis Purvis and Mrs. Viola Worley, both of West Monroe, and Mrs. Eloise Gauthier, Monroe and several grandchildren.
