WILLIS, JERRY BYRON

A resident of Baton Rouge for more than 40 years and a retired employee of the Louisiana Insurance Commission, he passed away at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997. He was 58 and a native of Winnfield.

Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Survived by wife, Liliana P. “Lilly” Willis; two sons, Jerry Byron “Bubba” Willis Jr. and Edward Anthony Willis, both of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Joyce Buxton, Alexandria, and Ann Romano, Maryland; and two brothers, James Willis, French Settlement, and Tommy Joe Willis, West Monroe.

Preceded in death by parents, Welby Byron and Louise Carter Willis.

He was president of Jerry B. Willis & Associates Inc. and vice president, secretary and director of Regulatory Insurance Consultants of Phoenix, Ariz. He served as chief examiner and chief ofthe financial solvency division for the Louisiana Department of Insurance and as president and vice president of the Society of Financial Examiners. He was a certified financial examiner and served on the board of directors for Bradford National Life Insurance Co. in New Orleans and for National Affiliated Investors Life Insurance Co. of Alexandria. He served on the supervisory committee of Louisiana Capitol Federal Credit Union. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge and served on the board. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Acacia Shrine Temple and Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, Winnfield. He was a past area governor, Pi Kappa Phi, at Northwestern State University. He was president of the Churchillian Society of Baton Rouge.
