Jerry D. Smith, age 78, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Jerry was born April 26, 1936 in Florien, Louisiana to the late James William and Cora Bell (Chance) Smith. He was retired from a career in the United States Army. Jerry had lived in the area since 1991 coming here from Carencro, Louisiana. He had formerly worked as a jailer for the Marion County Sheriff's Department, and was able to influence many young men in a positive way. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Yellville and was a loving husband and father.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home;
He was preceded in death by his parents;
A funeral service for Mr. Smith will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 7, 2014 at New Hope Baptist Church near Yellville with Bro. Jack Jefferson officiating.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army.
Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church.
