Jerry Lane Fortenberry, Jr.
Jerry Lane Fortenberry, Jr., age 53 and a resident of Mt. Hermon died at 9:25 pm Tuesday at his home.
He was an emergency vehicle technician and specialized in fire apparatus repair. He was a longtime board member and deputy chief of Mt. Hermon Fire District #9 (909) and also served as president of Washington Parish Fire Association. He has served as constable of Ward 2 for several years and also served at an assistant coroner for the parish coroner's office. He was a member of the Ruritan Club. A longtime dairyman, he served on the Board of ASCA (Soil Conservation). He was a licensed medical technician. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.
Survived by: Wife: Sheila Buras Fortenberry of Mt. Hermon, Daughter and son in law: Lacy and Brad Riley and their children Layla Dawn and Kalli Lane Riley all of Mt. Hermon, Mother: Louise Quinn Fortenberry of Mt. Hermon, 2 Sisters and a brother in law: Lucy Wascom and her daughter Amy Wascom of Mt. Hermon, Pam and Tommy Kellar and their daughters Amanda Cox, and Jamie and Rebecca Kellar all of Winnsboro, TX, 1 Brother: Rex Quinn Fortenberry of Baton Rouge, Mother in law: Bonnie Foster of Laplace, Aunt in law Barbara Morse of Laplace both of whom were a great help in his caregiving. Also other sisters in law and brothers in law and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Cody Lane Fortenberry and his father Jerry Fortenberry, Sr.
Visitation at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton on Thursday, May 24 from 6 PM until 10 PM and after 8 AM Friday. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Joe Baugh, Rev. Dale Parker and Rev. Ed Jenkins officiating.
