Barber Dies At 64 Here

Final rites will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday for Jessie William Erskine, 64, on 1102 Sheridan Ave., in Wellman Funeral Home. A barbershop operator at 818 Texas Ave. for many years, Mr. Erskine was a resident of Shreveport for the past 32 years.

Mr. Erskine died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in a local hospital following a short illness.

A barber for 40 years, he was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the American Legion.

The services will be conducted by the Rev. Frank Dees, assistant pastor of the Parkview Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery in Sikes where the Rev. W. S. Emmons, pastor of the Sikes Baptist Church, will officiate at graveside services at 3 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Erskine is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jimmie Massey Erskine; one brother, Alson Erskine, both of Shreveport; a sister, Mrs. Martha Herring of Jena, and two nieces, Mrs. John Cicero and Mrs. Myrtis Catanese, both of Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Erskine, Crawford Erskine, Lawrence Parker, Carney Parker, John Cicer and Winson Hapten.
