JESSE W. DAVIS

Jesse Willard Davis, 55, Rt. 1, Laurel, died Monday at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. after a lengthy illness. He was a longtime resident of Laurel and attended Laurel High School where he was known as “Crappie” Davis in track and other athletics. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy, a retired watch repairman, and a Baptist.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Mack Parker officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Survivors are two sons: Richard W. Davis, Miami, Fla.; and Larry Joel Davis, U.S. Navy, in Italy; six grandchildren; his father, Spurgeon Davis, Rt. 1, Laurel; a sister, Mrs. Mack (Norma Lee) Parker, Rt. 1, Laurel; three brothers, Hilton H. Davis, Pritchard, Ala.; Elbert Davis, Atlanta, Ga.; and Harold G. Davis of Columbia.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
