JONESVILLE, La. -- Services for Jessie James Bowman, 82, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Jonesville, will be at 10 a.m. today at Lake Lilly Baptist Church with the Revs. Frank Bass and Barry Hamilton officiating.
Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery in Eva under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville.
Bowman was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Little Creek.
He was a retired oil field driller from Justice Meyers of Jena, a member of Lake Lilly Baptist Church of Jonesville and a World War II Veteran where he landed on Omaha Beach and served in the Battle of the Bulge.
Bowman was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Bowman.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Bowman of Jonesville; two daughters, Jessie Mae Bowman Barton and Betty Bowman Pleicones of Baton Rouge; two sons, Charles Bowman of Elma and James Bowman of Jonesville; one sister, Hazel Bowman Jackson of Jonesville; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Travis Barton, Joel Bowman, Lavon Bowman, John T. Gay, J.J. Pleicones and Jonathan Pleicones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dixie Hamilton and Tooley Hamilton.
