Crash Kills Mrs. Clark, Injures Two
A Choudrant woman was killed and a Ruston woman seriously injured in a one-car accident on Interstate 20 Sunday morning.
Dead is Mrs. Jessie Mae Clark, 73, of Choudrant.
Miss Bernice O'Neal, 67, of Ruston, was seriously injured and admitted to the St. Francis Hospital in Monroe. Also taken to the hospital was Mrs. Aline O'Neal, 69, of Choudrant. The latter is listed in satisfactory condition.
The accident occurred at the Hall Street Exit about 11:17 a.m.
According to police investigating the accident, Miss Bernice O'Neal stated that the brakes failed. The officers also reported that the car failed to make the curve, jumped the curb, and collided with a concrete pillar.
Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Clark are pending with Spears Funeral Home of Ruston in charge.
Survivors include one son, William M. Clark of Champaign, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Hurley of Laverne, Okla.; two brothers, Aubrey O'Neal and Dr. D. L. O'Neal, both of Choudrant; two sisters, Mrs. Allyne Gill of Fairbanks and Miss Bernice O'Neal of Ruston; and five grandchildren.
